Ledger® Live: Login | Getting started™ with Ledger®

Quick, secure steps to install Ledger Live, connect your device, login (pair) and manage assets safely.

Overview

Ledger Live is Ledger’s official app for managing crypto: install, pair your Ledger hardware device, and perform secure operations (send/receive/swap/stake). This guide focuses on the login/start flow and essential security checks you should do before using the app.

Before you begin

What you need

  • A Ledger hardware device (Nano S Plus, Nano X, or similar)
  • A computer (Windows/macOS/Linux) or a mobile device with the Ledger Live app
  • Your device PIN (set during first setup) — never share it
  • Your 24-word recovery phrase — keep it offline; Ledger will never ask you for it in the app.

Important: only download Ledger Live from Ledger’s official site or official app stores.

Step-by-step: Install & Login

1. Download Ledger Live

Visit Ledger’s official Ledger Live page and download the installer that matches your operating system. For mobile, use the official app stores.

2. Open Ledger Live & choose “Get started”

When you first open Ledger Live it will ask whether you are setting up a new device or restoring an existing one. Choose the correct option and follow on-screen instructions.

3. Connect your Ledger device

Connect the device with the USB cable (or Bluetooth for supported devices). Approve any prompts on the hardware device itself — the device must always confirm actions physically.

4. Login / Pair

Ledger Live pairs to your hardware device (it does not obtain your private keys). Confirm pairing on the device by entering your PIN and approving the connection.

Security musts

Verify installer signatures

Compare the download file’s checksum/signature with Ledger’s published signatures to ensure the binary is genuine. Never enter your recovery phrase into Ledger Live or any website; any prompt for it is a scam.

Keep backups safe

Store your recovery phrase offline in a secure place — consider metal backup options for fire/water resistance. If you lose your device you can restore using your 24-word phrase on another Ledger device or compatible wallet.
